Prague National Theatre’s La Bayadère

The Mexican choreographer Javier Torres developed his new version of the famous romantic ballet La Bayadère for the Czech National Ballet. Built on Marius Petipa’s choreography and Ludwig Minkus’ music, Torres’s version, unlike many previous interpretations, brings back all four acts and, given Czech standards, also the largest ensemble of dancers on stage at once. The ballet is performed at the State Opera in Prague and together with Valmont (performed at the Estates Theatre), it brings the best out of Prague’s classical ballet scene today.
